Most school history assignments are built for a world that no longer exists. Memorizing dates, copying notes, and writing tests without references does not reflect how information is actually used today. In the real world, people work with search engines, databases, and AI tools, and the skill that matters most is knowing how to evaluate information and use it well.
This course is designed for students who want to think independently, question sources, and take control of their learning. Instead of completing worksheets or repeating textbook summaries, students actively investigate historical questions and make decisions that shape their work.
If you want to:
- Learn how to manage AI tools rather than be replaced by them
- Develop strong judgment about which sources can be trusted
- Build skills that matter beyond school
then this History course is built for you.
Learning Through Story
People remember stories far better than lists of facts. This course uses narrative as the core structure for learning history.
At the start of the course, students are given a historically grounded character and a set of guiding research questions. As students research major events and themes of the twentieth century, they use what they learn to co-write a long-form historical fiction narrative with the help of AI. Each research decision influences what happens next in the story.
By following a character across decades, historical events gain personal meaning. Students remember what they learn because it is tied to choices, consequences, and human experiences rather than isolated facts.

What Students Do
Throughout the course, students:
- Research historical questions using search engines, archives, and AI tools
- Evaluate the credibility and bias of sources
- Create their own multiple-choice questions based on their research
- Feed accurate information back into an AI system to generate the next section of their story
- Explain historical topics to others through conversation and short video assignments
- Create social media style videos that summarize key events, ideas, or turning points
The AI assistant uses student research along with historically accurate background details to expand the story. Students then use the updated narrative to guide their next round of research.
Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will have:
- Co-written a long-form historical fiction narrative following a character or family through major historical events
- Developed strong skills in evaluating online information and avoiding misinformation
- Learned how to structure effective AI prompts and critically edit AI-generated output
- Practiced communicating historical ideas clearly through writing, discussion, and video
This course prepares students to work with modern tools, analyze information independently, and engage deeply with history in a way that lasts beyond a final test.
If you are ready to take control of your education and prepare for the future rather than repeat outdated school routines, you can enroll and begin learning right away.
