Our English courses help students meet the challenge of modern communication, where writing must be sharper than AI and presentation skills matter more than ever. Students learn to break down difficult texts, like Shakespeare, using LLMs as a partner in inquiry, then build independence by forming their own interpretations. Writing assignments emphasize editing, tone, and structure, preparing learners to refine and elevate their voice. Beyond the page, students step into video-based projects: from dramatic performances to social-media-style opinion clips to full video essays, they practice presenting ideas in the very formats today's world demands. Whether analyzing a classic play or producing a short video, learners are guided to engage critically, communicate creatively, and adapt to the digital age. With a focus on inquiry, flexibility, and authentic expression, Async Academy equips Ontario high school students to analyze deeply and present powerfully.
Focus on Humanity
We go beyond the traditional model by preparing students to stand out in a world where simply being able to produce text is no longer enough. Our English courses teach students to differentiate themselves by putting a distinctly human face on their communication by developing tone, empathy, and nuance that an AI alone cannot replicate. Instead of focusing only on structure and correctness, our students learn how to infuse their writing with perspective and authenticity, skills that make their work memorable and impactful in academic, professional, and personal contexts.
Accelerate Learning
At the same time, we embrace AI tools as powerful collaborators. Students learn to use LLMs to generate drafts, explore multiple perspectives, and summarize complex works, but the emphasis is on taste-editing, refining, and shaping writing so it reflects judgment and style. This dual focus ensures our graduates don't just write, but write with clarity, humanity, and sophistication.

Inquiry-Based and Student-Focused
Units begin by having each student identify personal communication goals that matter to them, selecting techniques used by successful communicators in genres that are relevant to them. Once goals are set, students create a concrete plan for achieving them by engaging with course materials, assignments, and interactive tools.
These activities include editing LLM-generated writing, analyzing literature with depth, and practicing expression through multiple formats such as essays, video essays, and dramatic performances. The process is intentional: students take ownership of their progress and build habits of self-directed growth. Most importantly, every assignment ends with personal reflection. Students evaluate how well they met their goals, what strategies worked, and what challenges remain. This reflection helps them identify meaningful next steps, turning each assignment into a springboard for independent learning. By emphasizing reflection, the program ensures that students leave with skills for lifelong growth in communication.
